God’s Team or the Other Team!
At a recent church meeting we discussed the polarization of the Word of God, and how it frequently communicates in a two team language. We did an interesting exercise where we listed as many differences as we could. Although, this is not all inclusive list, it was some of the terms we came up with:
Our Team (God's Team; Jesus Christ) and /the Other Team
• The Righteous/The Wicked
• Good/Evil Godly/Ungodly
•The Church/The World
• The Obedient/The Disobedient/Froward
• Sons of God; Christ/Sons of Belial
• The Humble/The Proud
• Children of God /Children of the Devil
• Blessed/Cursed •
Lovers of God/God Haters
• Christians/Followers of Christ/Enemies of Christ
• Honest/Deceitful •
Fear of God/No Fear of God •
• People that do Good/Evil doers
• Angels in Heaven/Fallen Angels
• Apostles of Christ/Apostles of the Devil/Deceitful Workmen
It was a very, very good exercise and there are many, many more descriptions that we can state. We also discussed the following scripture: 2 Timothy 3 3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, high minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. It is interesting, in this horrible list of sinful behaviors we are instructed – “From Such Turn Away”
When God gave us the Son of God, Jesus walked the earth and many, many people rejected God’s gift. Jesus was not even able to do miracles in his own home town. I guess it is fair to say, some wanted to be on his team, and others choose the other team!
May God bless you to be on His team!
