Nations and Boundaries

Nations and Boundaries

We just had the President of the United States last night give his first address to congress and our nation as the new president. During my reading this morning I thought, what does the bible say about nations and boundaries?

Acts 17:26
26 and hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

Genesis 12 1-3
12 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: and I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Deuteronomy 32:8
When the most High divided to the nations their inheritance,
when he separated the sons of Adam,
he set the bounds of the people according to the number of the children of Israel.
Romans 13
13 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: for he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

In reviewing the few scriptures I have identified above, it is clear that God runs the show! He sets up the nations, blesses the nations and rewards or curses the nations. In Acts it talks about him establishing the boundaries of the nations.

In Genesis, we see the start of groups of people that were scattered, that spoke the same language after God confronted them at babel.

Genesis 11:1-9
11 And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speechAnd it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there. And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech. So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.

I thank God for our nation! It is not perfect, and according to scripture, no nation will be perfect until The Lord removes sin and death, but I like the nation the Lord has blessed me to live in! It is my prayer that The Lord continues to bless our nation, and that those who live here love, fear, and obey God; do His will and listen to the words of His Son, and love and obey Him!

God Bless, and May God be with you in all you do!
